Hi!
Today I’m sharing a look inside our master bedroom; trust me, it’s nothing spectacular and not grand by any standards but works for us (and our 60 lb furball). Our master bedroom has been a work in progress since we moved in.. roughly 10 months. Here are some peeks:
In October I’ll be building a new bed frame and headboard. This has been long, long overdue and I’ve been meaning to do it for a while but, alas, life happens. Last week our king mattress arrived so now we’re more pressed than ever to build this frame! I’m thinking of a combination of light raw wood and tufted upholstery. Thoughts? What’s your favorite headboard?
Mike and I have debated back-and-forth on mounting a TV at the end of the bed. I think we’re finalllly going to mount one – especially for those cold winter days when you’re sick in bed and just want to binge watch Netflix.
This is my favorite corner..
Sunflowers are my favorite flowers 🙂
This dresser came out way better than I expected. The color is custom mix of several leftover paints and I’ll share a tutorial on the handles soon!
Michael picked the prints – the Monopoly is his favorite; it’s the patent of the first board game design.
Our other corner has a large dresser and our huge walk-in closet.
Mike picked both graphic canvases for a splash of color. The smaller canvas is from a great Bronx street artist (I’m trying to track him down so I can give him well-deserved credit). The orange shadow box is one of my HS projects that is overdue for a makeover – coming soon, for sure.
The tree stump side table was made from a salvaged log – it weighs a ton but would be great as a base for a glass table. I still have to work out how to incorporate this piece into our bedroom but I love it and am not getting rid of it anytime soon.
The musical notes to our wedding song, Ribbon in the Sky by Stevie Wonder, are framed over our bed.
Now that we’re in year three (geeez!) of marriage, I’ve seen our design and bedroom aesthetic change so much. I’m more focused on creating an oasis and personal retreat that works for both of us. One of the biggest challenges initially was resisting the urge to paint; Michael is not big on color. Surprisingly, I LOVE how white and bright our room is and don’t see myself painting it for a while, if ever.
updates, especially new headboard!, coming soon.
