It’s FINALLY FRIDAY again and now that the weekend is here, I’m rounding up some new things I found this week and wanted to share. This week I’ve been focused on planning my project and content calendar for November with an emphasis on 2-3 project reveals, 3-4 tutorials, and a few style guides. If you’re interested in a particular topic or would like more resources on XYZ please let me know; it’s important to me that this blog would serve as inspiration and as a RESOURCE for you as your build a functional and curated home.
FINALLY FRIDAY
- Wood lined built-ins. I’ve been dreaming about my home office for a while now and would like extensive built-ins. These hero images immediately won be over because they are so unexpected and unassuming: stained, smooth wood integrated with millwork. My Home Office board on Pinterest is flooded with new inspiration for the 2020 project.
- This week was the big One Room Challenge reveal. In case you didn’t know, the #OneRoomChallenge is a 6-week challenge to completely renovate and remodel a room. The challenge is sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens and invites 20 phenomenal designers and DIY bloggers – others are welcome to join but will not be official participants. I have been following CLOSELY on instagram and my favorites are this phenomenal kitchen (gahhh!) and of course this bathroom and this moody luxurious master bath. Be sure to check all of the designers – can you believe all of these projects were done in 6 weeks?! One day I would like to join as a guest participant.
- I’ve been working so hard on our vestibule and will be revealing the new phase 1 vestibule remodel on MONDAY! I will also be using my DSLR to take interior photos using helpful guides by Maison de Pax on lighting, staging and composition, and camera basics. I’ve been taking crappy iPhone pics for all my projects and I’m excited to have a more polished look, both for the blog and instagram!
- Earlier this week we shared our favorite dark and moody interior paint colors. A shade that surprised me is Red Chipotle, which I am considering at the color for the vestibule when we complete the Phase 2 refresh: floor to ceiling molding and Red Chipotle in high gloss. I would also like a checkerboard white and black tile floor for a small and bold space. Does that already sound too crazy?! HA!
- Is it just me or does it feel like every other person is expecting a baby?! So many new babies coming soon so I rounded up my favorite baby products over the summer. These are perfect shower gifts, too! My personal fav is the AB to Jay-Z alphabet book and Baby Feminists!
- Lyft wrote a blog post about color’s effect on how they streamlined the color process on a corporate level. I stumbled upon their blog and found their re-approach insightful and transferable across different industries and platforms. I will be considering their approach as I continuously brand my own site (do we even like this color palette?! I’m torn.). If you read it, let me know what you think so us like-minded color nerds can dissect!
- If you’re not watching Hot Ones on Youtube, what are you even doing? Please, watch an episode if you haven’t because you will D-I-E.
- I’m a huge true crime podcast aficionado and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a podcast I haven’t already devoured. Here are new ones on rotation: Dateline, The Thing About Pam, Bad Batch, and Moms and Murder (the name says it all). You’re welcome in advance.
As always check out my instagram for daily updates, my new project ups and downs (win some, lose some) and to connect.
Thank G-D it’s FINALLY FRIDAY!
